A change of the stole ceremony is a sacred tradition and unique ceremony, the 1st Cavalry Division's commander said last week at Fort Hood. Change of command ceremonies are common in the Army, and Maj. Gen. Daniel Allyn said a change of stole was far more important than a change of command because it marked the passing of responsibility for the spiritual sustenance of the division's soldiers and families.

LETNICA/LETNICE, Kosovo - A Roman Catholic chaplain from Multinational Battle Group East led a Mass at the renowned Shrine of the Black Madonna, June 12, for United States KFOR Soldiers. Capt. Timothy Meier, chaplain, Los Altos, Calif., said that while KFOR chaplains have joined local priests in celebrating Mass at area churches before, this mass was unique because it was held in English specifically for U.S. KFOR troops.

COB SPEICHER, Iraq – Arkadiusz Ochalek grew up playing soccer in Sztum, Poland, as a way to forget about the pressures he faced from the Soviet Union, which ruled his nation. "The Russians took everything from our countries and gave it to Russia," he said. The usurping of supplies led to families all over the Soviet Union having to wait in long lines for the most basic necessities, like food and clothing.

CAMP NOTHING HILL, Kosovo – Multinational Battle Group East chaplains recently traveled to the remote KFOR outpost, Camp Nothing Hill, to provide religious support to Soldiers. Maj. Maury D. Millican, chaplain of Bismarck, N.D., and Capt. Timothy J. Meier, chaplain of Los Altos, Calif., provided Protestant and Catholic services for the MNBG E Soldiers at Camp Nothing Hill. The chaplains also took the time to meet and reach out to Soldiers as they carried out their daily missions.
